FEBRUARY 2010

NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN SCHOOL
The Governors have recently agreed to 3 exciting new projects that will enhance the school environment and the teaching and learning provision for all the children. They are:-

·        New toilets for the Infants, including all new fittings, flooring, lowered ceiling, new entrance doors and decoration. This project will start at half term and continue during the following week. I will write to you before half term with details of the access arrangements during that first week back. We will consult with the children regarding the colour schemes.

·        Upgrade of the ICT network including new PC’s and monitors for all the classrooms, an improved server, and a whiteboard and projector for the hall. This will ensure that the network is more efficient and can meet the needs of the curriculum more effectively.

The playground will be tarmaced so that the playground surface is improved. What remains of the canopy will be removed and the Governors will look at alternatives for providing shelter from the wet and sun. This project will be undertaken once the weather warms up and is suitable for tarmac laying. Once complete, the children will have a say on the playground markings that they would like.

Medicication

Please only send prescribed medicine into school. This must be given to the teacher by theparent with a note explaining dosage and when it is to be given. If medication is to be given 3 times a day, it need not be brought into school and can be administered before and straight after school and at bedtime. Items such as Calpol will not be administered by staff.

PARENT GOVERNORS

Congratulations to David Brown (dad of Jasmine in Class 1) and Claire O’Connor (mum of Charlie in Class 1 & Claudia in Nursery), who have been appointed as new parent Governors following the recent election process.

NON–UNIFORM DAY

FRIDAY 5th FEBRUARY

This will be held in aid of UNICEF’s Haiti Earthquake Children’s Appeal. Please give generously to help provide water kits and blankets for the children who are having to sleep and live in the open.       Many thanks

Please ensure that if your child does wear earrings, that they are a simple plain stud. The children should be encouraged to take them out and put them in themselves.
