About the School

Holywell Green Primary School is situated in the community of Holywell Green which is located a few miles from Halifax. The school was built in 1915 but has had many recent developments that extend it to its current size.

The buildings are of both traditional Victorian character and more modern design. The school is located next to Stainland Road and has beautiful views over the nearby deer park and valley.

MISSION STATEMENT

Holywell Green Primary School provides a welcoming, happy and stimulating learning environment where there is a commitment to high standards. We strive to realise individual potential and develop respect for the community to which our children belong.

Aims

We aim

  • To provide teaching and learning of the highest quality.
  • To ensure that all pupils benefit from and enjoy a curriculum presented in an interesting, exciting and imaginative manner with lots of opportunities for first hand experience, practical work, investigation and learning through play.
  • To allow children full access to a well structured, varied and creative curriculum, enhanced by extra-curricular experiences which values and promotes the arts and sport.
  • To provide a safe and caring school where children have an active voice and their opinions are valued so that they can become independent and responsible citizens.
  • To develop the whole child academically, socially, physically and emotionally
  • To provide a welcoming environment, enhanced with a variety of attractive, inspiring displays, which celebrate the work of the children.
  • To welcome parents, carers, families and the wider community into the life of the school, forging strong partnerships through good communication and involvement.
  • To provide professional development in order to continue to improve the quality of teaching and learning.
  • To encourage pupils to develop respect for themselves and others by recognising and promoting kindness and courtesy.

Facilities

The school has excellent facilities including an IT suite. All the classrooms are equipped with the latest technology including interactive whiteboards. The children also make use of a variety of IT equipment including i pads and digital cameras.

Other facilities include large playing fields for PE, a wildlife area and a trim trail.

Within school we have a large hall that is used for assembly, drama, music, PE and Christmas productions and festivities. We are also fortunate in having a separate dining hall where the children can eat either a hot meal or their own sandwiches.

The staff and Governors of the school work hard to ensure that the needs of every child are met.
We currently have 140 children on roll in school.
The number of teaching staff employed, including the Headteacher, in September 2024, will be seven full-time. Additionally, 11 support staff are employed to support the children in their learning.
