Mr Hirst's Class

Year 4 & Year 5

Welcome to our Year 4 & Year 5 class – a welcoming, ambitious and engaging learning environment where children are encouraged to challenge themselves, develop resilience and become confident, independent learners.

Our mixed-age class provides exciting opportunities for children to learn alongside one another, building strong relationships and supporting each other's learning. We carefully plan a broad and ambitious curriculum that builds on prior learning while ensuring every child receives the appropriate level of support and challenge to achieve their full potential.

Through stimulating lessons, practical experiences and meaningful opportunities to apply their learning, children continue to develop their knowledge and skills across the curriculum. We place a strong emphasis on reading, writing and mathematics while encouraging curiosity, creativity and critical thinking in every subject. Educational visits, outdoor learning and enrichment activities help to make learning memorable and enjoyable.

We believe that strong partnerships between home and school are essential to children's success. We look forward to celebrating every achievement with our families as children continue to grow in confidence, independence and responsibility throughout the year.

Meet the Year 4 & Year 5 Team

Our Year 4 & Year 5 class is led by Mr Hirst, who is committed to creating a positive, inclusive and inspiring learning environment where every child is encouraged to achieve their full potential. Through high-quality teaching, engaging learning experiences and high expectations, children are supported to become resilient, reflective and successful learners.

Supporting our class each day are: Mrs McDermott and Mrs Topham. They play a vital role in classroom life, providing encouragement, guidance and personalised support to help every child feel confident, included and successful in their learning.

Together, we are committed to ensuring that every child feels safe, valued and inspired to learn. We encourage children to embrace new challenges, take pride in their achievements and become thoughtful, respectful members of our school community.
