Mrs Porter's and Mrs Nalton's Class
Reception & Year 1
Welcome to our Reception & Year 1 class – a happy, nurturing and exciting place where every child is encouraged to develop a love of learning.
Our class provides a smooth transition from Early Years into Key Stage 1, combining the curiosity, creativity and play-based learning of Reception with the increasing independence and challenge of Year 1. We recognise that every child develops at their own pace and carefully plan learning that meets individual needs while ensuring all children feel valued, supported and successful.
Through engaging topics, practical experiences and high-quality teaching, we help children build strong foundations in reading, writing, mathematics and communication, alongside developing confidence, resilience and positive relationships. Outdoor learning, exploration and hands-on activities are an important part of our curriculum, helping children to learn through discovery and develop a lifelong love of learning.
We believe that strong partnerships between home and school are key to children's success. We look forward to sharing your child's learning journey with you throughout the year and celebrating every achievement, no matter how big or small.
Meet the Reception & Year 1 Team
Our Reception & Year 1 class is supported by a dedicated and experienced team who work closely together to ensure every child feels safe, happy and ready to learn.
Our class teachers, Mrs Porter and Mrs Nalton, work together to plan an exciting, engaging curriculum that meets the needs of every child. They share a passion for creating a warm and stimulating learning environment where children are encouraged to be curious, independent and confident learners.
Supporting our children each day are our teaching assistants, Miss Singfield and Mrs Thompson. They play an invaluable role in children's learning and wellbeing, providing encouragement, guidance and personalised support to help every child achieve their very best.
As a team, we work in partnership with families to ensure every child enjoys a positive start to their school journey and develops the skills, confidence and resilience to flourish throughout their time at Holywell Green Primary School.
